• Volunteer

    building the shed

There is no better volunteer than a parent. You are your child's first and best teacher, and by volunteering you show your student how important school is to you. There are plenty of ways to help out, both big and small.  Current volunteers help by

    • Weeding in the garden once a week

    • Shelving books in the library

    • Hanging student artwork with the art team

    • Setting up or cleaning up at an all-school event

    • Organizing a bulletin board for a teacher

    • Small painting projects in the building

    • Chaperoning an upcoming field trip (Note that the Volunteer Background Check takes 2-6 weeks to process and is then good for 3 years.)

We typically do not have parents volunteer in their own children's classroom unless it is for a specific classroom event, in order to build independence and autonomy as well as maintain the privacy and confidentiality of all students.

Four Simple Steps to prepare to be a volunteer:

    1. Complete a Volunteer Background Check, which takes 2-6 weeks to process and is then good for three years.
    2. Read and agree to the PPS Volunteer Code of Conduct
    3. Read and agree to the Volunteer Training.
    4. Tell our Community Agent Merri Whipps at mwhipps@gmail.com that you have completed the steps!
